CAT RESCUE

631-993-1039 / 516-659-4716

Cats seem to be fans of climbing trees, there are many reasons why they do but mostly to do with predatory or defensive instincts. Cats, as predators like to know its surroundings. Their scope of vision is considerably smaller than the outdoor environment of their yards or neighborhoods.

Cats often climb trees to get a better view of their surroundings, to help them see any potential dangers or potential prey. While cats are predators, they are also vulnerable to attacks from larger animals, such as dogs or even other cats.

A tree often provides a safe hiding place, particularly from any annoyed canine that happens to be passing. In the wild, cats climb up trees to give them a resting or napping place that is out of predators’ range. It also helps disguise their presence, which can prevent any prey from noticing that there is a cat in the vicinity. Sometimes, cats climb trees in response to noticing the inhabitants of upper branches: birds and squirrels.

Frequently, a cat will be a little too excited by the possibility of a free-range meal and climb to precarious heights in pursuit of a tasty meal. This situation can result in serious unhappiness for the other animal, the cat, and the owner faced with getting his or her pet down from the top branches of a spruce, so a cat owner may want to consider taking preventative action the moment his or her cat approaches a likely tree.

AFTER SANDY HURRICANE

631-993-1039 / 516-659-4716

On October 29, 2012 and weeks before AAA Tree Service was making sure some people were getting ready to receive Super Storm Sandy. The day of the hurricane AAA Tree Service also worked and did the same for consecutive weeks helping all the disaster areas all over long island.

The following photos are from a house located In Roslyn, An area that was hit by hurricane sandy.

Avoid Being Scammed after a Hurricane

Job in Melville NY

When a natural disaster just like sandy happens the last thing that some homeowners may think is why would someone out there would be trying to take advantage out of someone who is in such helpless situation? but unfortunately you see it happening all the time, people trying to benefit from someones misfortune.

There are ways on how you can avoid this happening to you, we know many times is hard to focus on all the things that are happening at the time with a cold perspective, but following these simple steps you will avoid anyone taking advantage.

New York General Eric Schneiderman  gave steps and what you need to do after a hurricane happens.

  1. Check with you insurance company: Make sure that before the disaster happens that you will be covered by your insurance and which are the steps to follow after a disaster to be ready ahead and not do everything last minute when other people are trying to do the same at the same time.
  2. Do your homework and investigate the person you will hire: Make sure they have a license to operate, insurance and they can do the job you require them to do.
  3. You can ask them for estimates in writing: the best way to go about it is by asking them to fax it directly to your insurance company, this way the process will be shorten and move faster just make sure that the work that will be provided is well specified in details.
  4. Know you customer rights and remember your customer responsibilities too.
  5. Always use a local contractor: Verify this contractors aren't "Here today and Gone Tomorrow," local contractors may be high on demand but its better to be safe than sorry. "You don't usually find legitimate contractors knocking on doors offering to do this sort of thing" if you see someone doing that, its a big red flag!!!
  6. Don't Pay all the money before they start the job: Legit contractors know the business and know that paying all up front can be difficult, do payments like half before start and the other half after the job is finished, this way you are protecting your assets and good contractors will know its a proper way to do business
  7. Check your town's tree removal requirements: Although many times they tend to be waved when a disaster such sandy occurs but its good you ask just in case.

*As a personal advise make sure your case is an emergency, many times we have to realize that although we all have our own priorities there is always someone who can be in worse situation than us, try not to panic.
Tree companies want to help everyone but its understandable that many situations can be worse than others and it may take sometime for them to come around due to the high demand after a natural disaster.
Just remember that is not the same a tree inside someone's residence, than a tree that felt on the lawn on a back yard so please be understandable, patient and use common sense, this will help you to not be a victim of a scam*

Your Trees & The Hurricane

631-993-1039 / 516-659-4716

Tree Damage can be one of the saddest and most worrisome results of any hurricane or severe storm. Trees are very important for humans and the earth. In terms of safety they can be damage structures during a hurricane.
Knowing which trees to plant, where to plant them, and how to prepare existing trees for hurricane season can greatly reduce the risk of lost or damaged trees.

There are some steps you can take on your own, but for best results, rely on the experience of your tree service professional. Have a tree expert remove dead trees and dread tree limbs and evaluate the health of trees near enough to fall on your (or your neighbor's) house. Your tree service professional is your greatest tool in preventative care to make less the damage.

Pruning is crucial in allowing a tree to grow strong which reduces the factors of causing damage. Trees need to be pruned selectively to allow wind passage, encourage strong branch angles and encourage a healthy center of gravity so it doesn't incline and falls.

Another concern is leaf debris. Tree leaves and pine needles can clog house gutters. The excess water increases the weight in the gutters and may cause them to fail and clog. The pooling water can overflow and cause wood rot and even enter the exterior wall resulting in Sheetrock damage inside your home. Make sure gutters and downspouts are clean in advance of inclement weather. If you see plants growing in your gutters, it is time to clean them!

Why Trees Fall

631-993-1039 / 516-659-4716

Trees are a very important part of life and necessary for us, they offer benefits and beauty. Many times trees or parts of trees may fall and injure a home or someone. Homeowners are responsible to make the property and environment safe. While there are many possibilities of a tree to fall, only a very small number can actually cause damage but its always better to be safe than sorry.

The best way when you can identify if a tree is a risk is by hiring a profesional but it can also be visible. Trees with time grow uneven and unbalanced but there are ways we can avoid accidents. In aaatreeservice every time we go and give an estimate we realize that most of the times the reason why a tree felt was is because 80% of the tree's total weight was located on the top part of the tree causing the tree to lean to the side and fall. The best way to avoid any danger is to up-keep your trees, maintain them in good conditions and give them a safety prune or a prune back.

If you have any questions or can’t find the service you’re looking for, call AAA so we can answer all of your questions! Also, be sure to visit our Facebook page, linked HERE!

Best and Safest Trees To Plant On Your Home

631-993-1039 / 516-659-4716

If you are looking to plant a tree on your property the first question that comes to mind is which tree will be the best to suit your property.  We should start with the fact that the tree you plant needs to be a native of Region.  Uncommon species may get ruined with time and cause other problems like insects, disease or brittle... and also kill other plants to its surrounding as well as not lasting long.  Make sure that you also pick a tree depending on your yard size.
Lets also estate that there is no such thing as a perfect tree because all of them have different characteristics sometimes, a tree can grow slower or faster than expected.
Just have in mind that trees also need up-keeping, many times a tree can die by not giving it the correct care and maintenance, this can harm it forever.

Some of the most common and safest trees anyone can plant are:

  • White Oak Tree
  • Maple
  • Cider Maple
  • Red Oak Maple
  • American Holly
  • American Elm

The main Reason why these trees can be your best bet is because these trees tend to have long roots under grown, they grow strong and firm. The roots develop and make it safe for you to have them around because you know they will be more danger proof than other trees such as Pines.

Dangerous Trees to Have In Your Property

631-993-1039 / 516-659-4716

The statement says: "Plant A Tree, Write A Book, Have a Son"

Every year trees fall causing big accidents and millions of dollars to home owners all across the country. That's why many times home owners have decided to cut down their tall trees.

Most of homeowners love their trees and would rather not get rid of them but these trees can be dangerous at times, that's why you should know which trees are the most common and can be dangerous so you can avoid an accident.

Probably one of the most common dangerous tree that you can have around your home is:

 PINES

Pines are native of the Northern Hemisphere

Pine trees can be potentially dangerous to a property and specially a home if they are located very close to it, because they grow very tall and heavy but at the same time its roots don't grow very deep bellow the ground point.  That's why every time there are even potentially high winds or storms pines may be the ones on inclining and can cause big damage if they actually fall on your home.

We would recommend to consult a tree specialist and get a free estimate to see how dangerous your trees can be to your property.

When The Trees Matter Most

631-993-1039 / 516-659-4716

As Mark Chisholm said, “in today’s throwaway society, many things like trees seem to hold little value.” As an arborist, this is a concern to him. He asks, “How will we keep a diversified landscape if our mature trees are constantly being thrown away?”

Recently, Mark was asked by his friends at STIHL to prune an old post oak for P. Allen Smith during the construction of his Garden Home Retreat in Arkansas. Allen is a renowned landscape and garden designer, as well as the host of the television shows P. Allen Smith’s Garden Home on PBS and P. Allen Smith Gardens on National stations.

Mark says, “Allen is a person who not only feels that mature trees are priceless, he demonstrates this position to his viewers across the country. Recently his viewers watched me, armed with my STIHL chain saw, hand saw, rope and hardness, swing through the old oak making precise pruning cuts during my visit. The effects of such a broadcast will undoubtedly raise awareness of the overall value and importance of such trees,” (TreeBuzz.com).

The post oak that Mark was brought in to prune was one of seven that stood out in the open spaces of Allen’s majestic property. Known as the “Seven Sisters,” the largest and most dominantly positioned oak is estimated to be more than 300 years old. “The tree became the most important object in the design of the landscape and to organize the property,” said Allen. So much that the size, shape and positioning of the new house was created around the tree!
